This is an example of the benefit of using design to enhance urban apartment living. Acla:works architects were engaged to design the interior refurbishment of this simple 3-bedroom apartment. The solution involved opening up the living spaces to create a more spacious feel and then upgrading finishes to create a contemporary urban interior with a tropical flair. The effect is made as one enters the apartment and is faced with a cute foyer leading into the spacious living areas and finally to the porch and view of Port of Spain beyond. The kitchen is part of the living space with a central counter. Kitchen cabinets are white. There are two interesting artwork pieces that were commissioned by artist, Christopher Ross-Dick that add the finishing touch to the living spaces. Furniture and fittings are all contemporary in design. The effect is a simple, well-designed but unpretentious interior within a modest budget.
