Port of Spain is the capital city of Trinidad and Tobago and downtown district [for the purposes of this study] in bounded on the south by the Gulf of Paria, the north by Park Street, the East by Picadilly Street and west by Coleville Street.

The city is laid out in geometric patterns with parks and squares and includes a wide variety of buildings including Parliament, government and private sector offices, religious, education, commercial enterprises, hotels, transportation and shipping.
